I love a fair

Love the 2009 North Carolina State Fair poster! Definitely has a Hatch vibe about it. A friend used Hatch to print her wedding stationery and it looked very cool.

It's strange to me that the NC fair isn't until October. To me, fairs are always summer affairs. My hometown fair (really the best small-town fair in California) is in mid-August, right before school starts. It was always the last hurrah of summer as a kid.

Cantilevered concrete swimming pool in Spain. Creepy or cool?

This reminds me of those pools at the Palms in Vegas that stick out into the sky. Of course, they're like eleventy billion feet up in the air - this looks like it's maybe 20 or so.

To the left: a massive lemon from my grandma's meyer lemon tree in LA smuggled back via airplane. I'm currently enjoying some lemon water flavored with them - tastes like sunshine!

A wee bit late...

I was on a self-imposed tech break while in Los Angeles for a long weekend so I missed my chance to do a Father's day post. Photo is me and Dad somewhere in the wilds of Montana back in '06.

I've seen Izze sodas all over the place and today I picked this up on the spur of the moment at Target. Deelish. And it's pretty yummy mixed with rum, too.

Cupcakes, your 15 minutes are running out

I learned from the fabu cupcake blog, Cupcake Takes the Cake, that the cupcakery to the stars (does that even make sense?) Sprinkles is getting ready to deploy a cupcake van in the Los Angeles area. I think I might need to drop in on this place on my little LA trip in a couple of weeks. After all, if it's good enough for the Girls Next Door, it's got to be good enough for little ole me. (Yes, I did watch the GND and am only slightly embarassed by that)

Better Late Than Never

I've been on a serious Mad Men binge lately. I'd seen a few eps here and there but over the last week I've watched the entire season on DVD. It's such a well-written, carefully crafted show.

Plus, the fashion, furniture and sets are just so swank.

Heaven on a plate
