Sneak peek of the guest bedroom. It's getting there - still needs some tweaks. My re-purposed drapes that used to hang in the living room are too long so I must hem them. I want something to go over the bed and I'd love to find an awesome smallish dresser. Oh, and lampshades! And possibly a rug. So maybe I'm not as finished as I'd like.
But it's a long way from where we started:

I recovered this $8 thrift chair! Or, rather, I had it recovered professionally and boy am I glad I did. my DIY skills are not that great. Here's the before:
It's part of the guest bedroom that I'm in the middle of revamping. Though I think I picked the WRONG paint color. I think I might shoot myself -- I am SO sick of painting I could scream. Ugh.

Repurposed
In a fit of productivity a few weeks ago, I decided to drag up the sisal rug I stashed in the basement. It's an 8 x 10 I got for a steal from the Company Store and had been using in the dining room. For some reason Burt, who typically has very few accidents, decided it was a nice place to have a restroom break. Though I cleaned it pretty well, there was a telltale ring left that just couldn't be covered. So to the basement it went to eventually be tossed/given away.
Then I remembered I had been seeing some great layered rugs in various mags/blogs and realized the blue binding on my defiled sisal rug matched the tone in the wool dhurrie in the living room. (That rug ALSO experienced a rude welcome by the dog, but the coffee table covers that chew-hole now).
I love it! It gives the living room that layered look that to me makes a room feel purposeful. And I got to reuse an item I thought was done fer'. Always a good thing!

Lighted
One of the lovely things about living here in North Carolina is the coast. Big, sweeping sand dunes tumble down into wide, flat beaches. So different than the sometimes rocky California coast I am used to. We went down to Beaufort NC last weekend for the music festival. We had some time on Sunday before heading back home so we hopped out to the Cape Lookout National Seashore and lighthouse.
The diamond pattern is tres chic, non? The black and white indicate E/W and N/S. Very clever!

Now a break from our regularly scheduled programming...
This blog isn't really about fashion, but it is about DEALS and this may be one of my happiest deals yet! I found this cute vintage sheath at a thrift store in Garner this weekend. It fits like a glove! And I have a hard time finding vintage that fits given my ample bum. It's a Twiggy brand dress -- I wonder if that refers to the model Twiggy?
