Entry #1 in "Why Do These Things Cost So Much"

Large planters! Even crappy ones at Ollies and Big Lots are like $50. There's no way these cost more than $5/each to manufacture.

This set is $750!

Trying to decide on wallpaper for the entry way....I'm leaning towards a neutral pattern. Any of these light your fires? All from Graham + Brown.

Love/Hate

Anthropologie is brilliant for leading people to believe that either of these items is worth over $100. DIY, baby!

The lamp might be a wee hard, what with the gluing and possible drilling, but certainly do-able. This clock would be dead easy. Thrift store plate + clock kit from Michaels. Savings = $70

Etsy Pick of the Week

Love these prints from Live Creating Yourself. She has a great Etsy shop, too! How did we ever decorate without Etsy?
And this series makes me giggle.

More awesome items from Clayton Gray.

I'd hang these plates together in the kitchen or a breakfast room (which I am lacking)

This table is very glam/Hollywood but could fit in lots of different spaces.

Pretty blue dresser.

Color!

Love all of these pretty pillows and rugs from Clayton Gray

Barbie cooks

This kitchen is amazing. I could not pull it off, nor afford it, but it would be super cool to microwave my oatmeal here. via apartmenttherapy and Gaita Interiors.

Paper'd

Because I am such a rockstar, I spent my Saturday night gazing at wallpaper online and ordering samples. I'm considering wallpapering our entry way and am drawn to the easy installation and removal of Tempaper. The installation video makes it look like fancy contact paper. Apparently, it removes like a breeze, too. It will be about $150 to do our entry which isn't totally a steal but might be a nice investment since we now own.

Report to come.

Going Green

Weekend accomplishment: My first compost bin! Made out of stakes and garden wire. It's ugly but it should work. Now to collect my kitchen scraps!

I also transformed an empty plastic coffee container from work into a simple compost bucket for the kitchen. I've seen cute ceramic and stainless steel ones at various kitchen supply stores but it seems more than just a tad silly to spend $20 on a container to hold decomposing food!
