More Costa Rica

Geared up for zip-line touring!

Hiking through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The source of this stream was just a few meters farther up.

La Fortuna waterfall near Arenal.

Approaching Arenal. We had one remarkably clear day and 2 totally socked in with clouds. Glad we got to see the cone!

Our Daihatsu Bego. I think it might have been powered by a riding mower engine.

Winter Break

We went to Costa Rica. There is good fishing there, however we are not fisherpeople so I can't report on that.

We also saw monkeys which were quite naughty and loved to steal people's things.

We also saw crocs!

It was gorgeous and tropical.

More to come...

Burt Reynolds wishes ya a Happy Turkey Day!

We're up in the mountains of western NC for a few days and then back home to push into December and vacation! Can't wait for the warmth of Central America in just a few short weeks.

I never posted my simple pumpkin from Halloween. It's sitting on our new island from IKEA (holy best purchase ever). You can see the beginnings of the kitchen paint job. I'm *almost* done with it and may be ready to reveal shortly.

Feeling Accomplished

bedroom 002

Finally finished the master bedroom paint job. It was a dingy cream color when we moved in, then I made a big mistake and painted two walls a gorgeous peacock blue. I loved the color but it was just too much for a bedroom. So after a billion + coats of primer + paint, we now have a soft, soft pink bedroom. Color is Lowe's Martha Stewart Milk Glass.

bedroom 004

I made the headboard, upholstered with a curtain panel from the Martha Stewart (again) line from Kmart. The window panels are the same material. Hey, I find something I like and a run with it!

There's so much more to do and I am on the hunt for art and a couple of petite armchairs, but at least the basics are finally in place.

Nylo Hotel Providence/Warwick

While up in RI we stayed at the Nylo in Warwick. We got it through Priceline at a steal. It's a great little hotel in a former textile mill. The complex is the old headquarters of Fruit of the Loom.

Each room is stylishly decorated and features polished concrete floors, comfy beds, a great coffeemaker and a flat-screen TV.

Although we didn't eat at the restaurant, it's got a hip little bar right on the river. There's an outdoor patio that looks great for warm weather relaxin'. I love the hanging ball chairs throughout the lobby and bar.
